Episode 2: Loki Begins, Ahsoka Ends, Who Can Defeat The Eagles Or 49ers?

This week on the sports half of Geeks Who Like Sports, Ray and Lee continue their coverage of the 2023 MLB playoffs, as well as the latest controversies and storylines from the NFL, and Lee's thoughts headed into the NHL season. The guys also realized something that we've officially named "The Carsillo Effect" and Ray proposes a deal to the owners of all his favorite teams. As we spin into the Geek related discussion you can look forward to a spoiler free breakdown of both the first episode of Loki season 2 and the season finale of Ahsoka. Ray also shares his thoughts on ESPN's opinion of the Play Station Portable, which was apparently something they felt the need to enter the chat on this week, as well as a review of the new Netflix show Wrestlers. To finish things out Lee reads out the Madlibs he has had Ray blindly create during the show. Episodes of Geeks Who Like Sports will be released every Wednesday with a second micro-episode released later in the week. Tune in on your favorite podcast platform or via YouTube where you can watch the full episode each week. -- This week we cover the chaos that is the Chicago Bears including the mysterious circumstances that led to the resignation of the Bears' defensive coordinator - Alan Williams. We continue our football segment with an analysis of quarterbacks Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Anthony Richardson, before we discuss the previous week's match ups, and the absolute mania surrounding the KC Chiefs with Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Our sport section continues with our outlook on the 2023 MLB Playoffs and our thoughts on MLB's domestic abuse policy - don't worry we take a strong stand that we're sure you agree with. The perfect segue between geek and sport as always is wrestling. We discuss the WWE and Jade Cargill as well as the AEW's recent Edge signing. Lee gives a hot take that the two organizations are in cahoots (let us know if you agree with him). At the time of recording this episode neither Lee nor Ray have seen the season Finale of Ahsoka (which premiered the same night), but Lee shares some reasons why it has been his favorite Disney+ Star Wars release yet. Keeping with Disney+, the guys put their foot down about the MCU and say that Loki season 2 needs to be good or else they will both be taking a break from investing time and money in new Marvel shows. To cap it all off, Ray gives us a detailed outlook of the TWO DOZEN new video games set to release between this show's release and Black Friday 2023. He laments that he needs more time in the day (don't we all), but also gives his expert opinion on which games you should immediately start playing and which you should stay away from. -- Geeks Who Like Sports is proud to be sponsored by Cut Scene Sleep-Aid and Sport Displays. Episode 4: Dissecting the Phillies' Loss, A-Rod Jersey Retirement Debate, and Loki's Latest Episode

This week's episode starts off with the heart-wrenching loss of the Philadelphia Phillies after their first game seven in franchise history, but as we do, we choose to focus on the incredible season they've had rather than their missed World Series berth. We also discuss the upcoming Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks World Series and dissect the heated debate sparked by of Alex Rodriguez's desire to have his number retired by the New York Yankees. We explore the potential implications of a new baseball league in Dubai and how sports leagues' global expansion could lead to more people falling in love with the game. We also share our thoughts on the NBA's new in-season tournament, the current state of the NFC East, and how defensive players in football are overlooked. We celebrate the NHL's decision to reverse their stance on pride tape, allowing players to freely express themselves. Episode 5: The MLB Season Is Too Long, We Enact Geek Laws, And Ray Reviews Spiderman 2

Feeling the Halloween spirit this week, the geeks arrive dressed ready to Believe You and Believe In You in their Ghostbusters and Ted Lasso gear. We start the show chatting about the World Series and our thoughts on how long the MLB season is now in the expanded playoffs era. Lee and Ray toss around the idea of shortening the regular season to get back to playing the most important games of the year while there's still baseball weather. Turning to football we talk about injuries and the victories and losses of this past week, and Ray gives us another rant about his Giants' shortcomings after a historically bad game against the Jets. We then dive into some tension between media coverage and sports ethics. Shifting gears towards the Geek part of our discussion, we set the Geek Commandments of Spoilers before we plunge into an intriguing Loki episode that could potentially introduce the X-Men and Fantastic Four to the MCU. Then, Ray gives his full review of Spider-Man 2, which he has already 100%ed and rates a whopping 9.25 out of 10.
